Sayaka Shoji: Recital In Japan
Sayaka Shoji was the first Japanese and youngest violinist to win the Paganini Competition in 1999 and has been successful around the world ever since. The programme captures a concert she held during a recital tour she held for the first time in five and a half years. She will be accompanied by Víkingur Ólafsson, an Icelandic pianist with whom she has been performing together on many occasions since 2013. The programme captures Shoji performing with the exceptional pianist dubbed “Glen Gould of Iceland” and commended for his “exquisite blend of a playful spirit and virtuosity”.
