The Norwegian Wind Ensemble: Octet – Live From Fredrikshalds Theatre
The Norwegian Wind Ensemble is said to be the oldest professional ensemble in Norway. They are based in the border town Halden looking over to Sweden, where also Norway's oldest baroque theatre is situated. It's a beautiful setting for an octet from the Norwegian Wind Ensemble to perform orginal music by Beethoven and Weber. And they also highlight the historic role of ensembles like theirs as the "portable stereo systems" of their time, performing an early Sedlak arrangement of the L'Italiana In Algeri Overture by Rossini.
