Così Fan Tutte

Così fan tutte marks the last stage of the great artistic collaboration between Mozart and Da Ponte: a story of betrayals, with a couple swapping, where the Mozart genius manages to turn even that rather banal subject into gold. The opera made its debut at the Burgtheater in Vienna in 1790. Mozart knows well that the "needs of the heart" are universal, and he does not judge but understands them, conveying them into a very refined score. The cast is exceptional, with Thomas Hampson as Don Alfonso. Conducted by Zubin Mehta and directed by Sven-Eric Bechtolf.
