Pēteris Vasks’ 75th Anniversary Concert

"Presence", the 75th anniversary concert of the most outstanding Latvian composer Pēteris Vasks, was broadcast live on Latvian Television from the Concert Hall Cēsis with no audience present due to the pandemic. The musicians were placed making use of the entire space of the hall. Conductors Andris Poga with the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, and Māris Sirmais with the State Academic Choir Latvija performed an emotional programme of Vasks’ music. In "Plainscapes" and "Vox Amoris", soloists sisters Balanas, violinist Kristīne and cellist Margarita, joined the orchestra. Vasks and his wife were the only listeners of this unusual concert in person.
