Reich 85 – Kuniko Kato Plays Steve Reich

  • © NHK – Japan Broadcasting Corporation

In celebration of Steve Reich turning 85, percussionist Kuniko Kato gives a special performance for the master of modern music. In addition to giving a world premiere of the vibraphone version of “Piano Phase,” she will express a unique world view through a combination of “live solo performance and multi recording”. Kato recorded and plays all parts of “Six Marimbas Counterpoint,” “New York Counterpoint” and “Vermont Counterpoint.” She gives an overwhelming performance while exploring ways of expression as a percussionist. A message from Steve Reich should not be missed. The recording was made in 4K images and 5.1 surround sound.
