Dozan Fujiwara Presents The Appeal Of The “Shakuhachi”
Shakuhachi is a simple end-blown flute made of a single bamboo with five finger holes. All the more for its simplicity, people find it easy to give it a try and performers are said to be found across the globe. Dozan Fujiwara, the most popular shakuhachi artist in Japan today, plays a variety of pieces and introduces the musical instrument’s possibilities and appeal in full. He can even perform classical music as he pleases just by changing how he presses the holes and tilts his neck. This time, in addition to classic pieces, he played Bach and “Adiós Nonino”.
