Fatma Said – Reviving A Forgotten Treasure
The film follows Egyptian singer Fatma Said on her spirited mission to save and pay tribute to a treasure of Arabic culture that is extremely powerful but threatens to disappear: the astonishingly creative work of singer and composer Mohamed Abdel Wahab – a legend in the Arab world who shaped the golden age of the Egyptian film musicals of the 1950s. With zeal, charm and her own artistic talent, Fatma Said uses unusual ways to track down Abdel Wahab's music, save it from possible disappearance, celebrate it anew and, once and for all, secure it as publicly accessible cultural property.
