Franco Zeffirelli's La Bohème

This "La Bohème" is the first opera film ever shot in a studio, the first musical film directed by Herbert von Karajan, and Franco Zeffirelli's first major film production. In 2023, the legendary Italian director would have turned 100. "La Bohème" is based on Zeffirelli's acclaimed work at La Scala in Milan, with Mirella Freni and Gianni Raimondi as the ill-fated lovers in their celebrated operatic debut. Karajan conducts the chorus and orchestra of La Scala. Until today this production is considered one of the best of its kind.
