La Cenerentola

It was a quarter of a century ago that legendary director Achim Freyer staged La Cenerentola at the Volksoper: Rossini's opera is an entirely secular fairy tale without magic, with melodies full of wit and charm, but above all a great social satire. Freyer found the perfect tone for this original, told the story with a large portion of fantasy and did not miss out on the opera buffa comedy. The result was a production that was as witty and wicked as it was fabulously beautiful, which immediately captivated the audience and is now finally coming back to the stage.
