Paganini’s Fabulous Strings

The performances of the composer and violin star Niccolò Paganini must have made a deep impression. At the beginning of the 19th century, the 'Italian strings' were still considered unique in terms of their vibration and sound characteristics. When strung on stringed instruments, they produced an incomparable magic of sound that until recently could not be imitated. These strings, produced under the utmost secrecy and control of the Vatican in remote mountain villages in Abruzzo, were difficult to obtain. The documentary tells the story of these divine strings, woven from the best criminal material.
