Scandinavian Summernight

Fair summer light, green beds of grass and warm evening breezes are painted within Scandinavian music. Beloved traditions are embedded in choices of instrumentation, melodies and harmonies. The composer Hugo Alfvén is one of the great interpreters of 'the Scandinavian soul' who was inspired by folk music. Many orchestra and choire pieces were devoted to dance and the magic of the brief summer months of the North. Conductors Christian Järvi and Sofia Ågren, dancers from the Royal Ballet in Stockholm, the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and almost a hundered young song and dance talents, join together in Berwaldhallen to celebrate Summer and light.
