A child immigrant from Trinidad. A musical prodigy equally at home playing Bach as she was swinging jazz with Art Tatum and Fats Waller at the height of the Harlem Renaissance. Hazel was an incredible pianist, singer, actor and activist. Hazel dreamt in color and ended up living an artists’ nightmare. Her voice, like the voices of so many women, especially women of color, has been lost. This feature documentary will shine a light on her, her incredible talent, her voice, and ask: how could we forget? The one and only, Hazel Scott.
