The Fiery Angel

Calixto Bieito's staging at Madrid's Teatro Real transposes the story today to a closed society of the 1950s. In the ordinary daily life of a young innocent woman, played by the Lithuanian soprano Ausrine Stundyte, who however will live in the burning of the fantasy and the violence. Through this update, the irrational part of the story of the novel fades away, to make this adventure even more urgent, corrosive, destructive and that of a modern, inner and devastating journey.
