The Ramallah Concert – Daniel Barenboim And The West-Eastern Divan Orchestra
Music under extreme conditions: only six years after its founding by Daniel Barenboim and Edward Said, the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra gave its most legendary concert at the Palace of Culture in Ramallah. A historical happening and a magic moment of music simultaneously. Even though an official ceasefire was in force, the Middle East conflict was nowhere near being resolved - and is still not today. But the orchestra set a sign of peace with the concert that was broadcast internationally and attracted attention worldwide.
