The Sound Of Africa – The Story Of Ladysmith Black Mambazo
They were considered the musical figurehead of South Africa, if not all of Africa: Ladysmith Black Mambazo became abruptly famous in the mid-1980s through their collaboration with pop star Paul Simon. This documentary, rich in archival footage, tells for the first time the story of the ensemble and its founder Joseph Shabalala, who, following a vision, revolutionized traditional South African vocal music. Their unique a capella vocal sound achieved worldwide recognition in the 1980s and 1990s; Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Dolly Parton and many others worked with the ensemble.
