Behind The Wall
Behind the Wall, captures the dancers of Ballet BC working with répétiteur Yvan Dubreuil as they prepare to remount Johan Inger’s acclaimed choreography “Walking Mad” for the 2013-14 season. The film provides a rare perspective of the piece that is both intimate and dynamic, allowing the audience to see it raw and up close. "Walking Mad" features a wall as its primary set piece, and the film reveals the carefully choreographed action that goes on behind the wall. The fact that the dancers never leave the stage and remain involved as they move and manipulate the wall is astonishing to behold. The result is a stunning exploration of the beauty and complexity of “Walking Mad,” and the passion, dedication, and artistry required to perform it.
