DANCESCREEN 2019 AWARD FOR BEST LIVE PERFORMANCE RELAY AND CAMERA RE-WORK

Betroffenheit is an award-winning, boundary-stretching dance-theatre hybrid exploring the psychological states of trauma, grief and addiction. Choreographer Crystal Pite and actor and playwright Jonathon Young based Betroffenheit on Young's own experience of losing his teenage daughter, niece and nephew in a fire whilst on a family holiday. Combining tap, salsa, spoken word, puppetry and song with Pite's emotionally charged choreography, Betroffenheit is a witty and tender-hearted exploration of disconnection, isolation and what it means to come to terms with such a tragedy. Jeff Tudor’s capture for the BBC was honoured with Rose d’Or and Golden Prague Awards 2018.
