Move Senegal

Old traditions and modern-day globalisation, folk rituals and pop culture, religion and rebellion – in Senegal, these are found side by side. What tensions arise between the old and the young, between towns and rural areas, Africa and Europe? How do our moves differ? And how do they unite us? Sylvia meets the breakdancer Baidy Ba from the group “Y’en a marre”. She learns about Senegalese traditional dances, with dance anthropologist Claire Clouet and Sidy Cissokho, leader of the Soninké dance group Xeri’s de Bakel. Finally at the École des Sables, Sylvia meets the grande dame of African dance: Germaine Acogny.
