Songa

In August 2018, a group from Amsterdam comprising of two choreographers, five dancers and one filmmaker travelled to Kenya for a dance research with the Nairobi based dance troupe Artzone. Over a four-week period the dancers from the two countries shared their knowledge and dance techniques with each other. The outcome was a choreographed piece that they showcased at a public performance in Nairobi. Songa is a short documentary by Roos de Vries who captured every step of the Songa dancers during this exchange in Nairobi. A raw glimpse at friendship, transcultural connection and the love for dance.
