Ornithology: Wingspan

Entered by
Submitted for dancescreen 2016

The idea of this film came from a warehouse party in London. With no room to move Choreographer Simeon Qsyea could see a mass of people sway as a unit, almost like the sea. The only part they could freely move without disturbing or hitting the crowd was their shoulders. 2 days later Simeon Qsyea and 4 dancers gathered in a studio and created a movement vocabulary with rules based on angle, projection and movability. The next day Simeon choreographed a piece based on the idea of growing and expanding, which later became Wingspan.
