They range in age from 11 to 22. Fifty-five amateur singers from the Aquitaine Young People’s Vocal Academy plus 35 students from the music department and 15 soloists from the voice department at the Bordeaux Conservatory. These apprentice musicians all accepted a bold challenge with the same rigor and the same aim of outdoing themselves: staging Händel’s Messiah – an oratorio that the public is familiar with, and one that is seen as vocalists’ Himalaya – in just two months! Our documentary accompanies this human and musical adventure, portraying both the act of transmitting knowledge and experience, and the pleasure of learning.
