Die Fledermaus – Festive Concert From Semperoper Dresden

  • Semperoper Dresden © Matthias Rietschel

Die Fledermaus (The Bat) is probably the most performed piece of music at the end of the year. Johann Strauss’ great comic operetta is full of esprit, energy, sense of humor and unforgettable melodies. Legend has it that Strauss composed it within six weeks, hardly putting his pen down to eat or sleep. On 30 December, the Semperoper Dresden staged excerpts of Die Fledermaus with international soloists and the Staatskapelle Dresden under the baton of Maestro Franz Welser-Möst for a 90-minute brilliant TV performance.
