Toulouse Capitole National Orchestra – Tugan Sokhiev Conducts Mantovani, Prokofiev, Debussy And Ravel With Nicholas Angelich

  • © Jean François Leclercq

From the sunrises of Daphnis Et Chloé (by Maurice Ravel) to Claude Debussy’s shimmering sea (La Mer), late 19th-century French music echoes impressionist painting, interpreting shifting land and seascapes and skies in sound. Continuing to plough his elders’ furrow, Bruno Mantovani, one of the major composers of our time, offered the Toulouse Capitole National Orchestra the debut performance of his most recent symphonic composition. Completing the programme, virtuoso pianist Nicholas Angelich brings his lyricism to Prokofiev’s popular Piano Concerto No. 3.
