Without any doubt Frank Peter Zimmermann ranks among the leading violinists of our time. In his frequent encounters with Mariss Jansons and the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks the audience witnesses exhilarating moments of musical insight and the pure joy of music-making. The first violin concerto by Sergei Prokofiev is a work which Zimmermann made part of his repertoire very early in his career and which has become second nature to him.
