Helmut Lachenmann: My Melodies

The genesis of Helmut Lachenmann’s latest work spans more than 20 years. In June 2018, his new large-scale work for eight horns and orchestra, My Melodies, was premiered in the musica viva series of Bayerischer Rundfunk, which also commissioned the work. Peter Eötvös conducted the BR Symphonieorchester with its horn section in the limelight. My Melodies marks another turning point at Lachenmann’s creative journey. It leads him to a very specific combination of his typical experimental sound/noise style and a more “traditional” way of playing the orchestral instruments.
