Mozart's Magic Flute From Salzburg

  • Mozart's Magic Flute from Salzburg © Ruth Walz / Salzburger Festspiele

A classic and the highlight of the Salzburg Festival 2018: The Magic Flute. Director Lydia Steier has come up with something special for her Salzburg debut: Famous actor Klaus Maria Brandauer plays the role of a grandfather telling Mozart's Singspiel as bedtime story to his grandchildren – the three boys. The four people are closely linked and almost always present on the stage. This gives a whole new perspective and an even fairytale charm to Emanuel Schikaneder's well-known libretto of the young prince Tamino, the Queen of the Night, her daughter Pamina and the bird catcher Papageno.
