Nikolai Lugansky Piano Recital

  • © NHK – Japan Broadcasting Corporation

The programme captures a recital by Nikolai Lugansky, a pianist who is highly acclaimed as a rightful heir to Russian pianism. Lugansky, who has won worldwide admiration, held a concert in Tokyo in February 2018 when he captivated the audience with his profound empathy given to the pieces and overwhelmingly stellar techniques. The recording includes the Ballade No. 4 in F minor, one of Lugansky's favorite pieces, as it is “especially beautiful and tinged with tragedy among all the works by Chopin.”
