Rhythms Of India

  • © BBC Music

In this visually stunning travelogue, British musician Soumik Dutta explores India’s diverse and distinctive musical traditions. Starting in Kolkata, where he first learnt from his guru in a centuries-old tradition, Soumik's journey takes him around the country, meeting and performing with its musicians. From the melodramatic song and dance of Bollywood, to the sweetly devotional songs of the temple, the soaring ragas of classical music, to age-old folk songs passed across generations, Soumik’s revealing personal journey uses music as a way to understand the story of India’s rich culture and history.
