The Ball

  • © Christophe Martin

Choreographer Mathilde Monnier and writer Alan Pauls were inspired by a cult performance of the 80s, Le Bal, by Jean-Claude Penchenat turned into a film by Ettore Scola. In this spectacle Penchenat attempted to spell out the history of France through dance and chansons. Mathilde Monnier and Alan Pauls situate their take on Le Bal in the period of the 70s until today in Argentina. Encouraged by Pina Bausch's work they cover anything from tango to samba and salsa to football. This comes with a documentary entitled Extra Bal with a running time of 52 minutes.
