In glamorous Parisian music halls, dubious cabarets and dance halls, the stars of the French vaudeville and dance scene were in the period between the two world wars. Names like Joséphine Baker, Mistinguett, Gaby Deslys, Marianne Oswald and Suzy Solidor stand for the feeling of life in the Paris of the wild twenties, for a time when people knew how to enjoy themselves extensively, how to dance Charleston and Swing, until the next catastrophe was looming in the early thirties.
