BBC Cardiff Singer Of The World is an international singing competition known throughout the classical music world as the premiere showcase for opera singers at the outset of their professional careers. Previous winners and competitors now sing at all the major opera houses of the world; and include Karita Mattila, Inger Dam-Jensen, Anja Harteros, and Jamie Barton. In the main prize there are 4 concerts with 20 singers from all over the world competing. Ukraine, South Korea and USA are represented by 2 singers, with Russia being represented by 3 singers. The winner of each concert round is guaranteed a place in the final, along with 1 wildcard.
