Herbert Blomstedt – A Portrait

  • © Accentus Music

Herbert Blomstedt is a phenomenon. At the age of 92, the presumably longest-serving conductor in the world still travels from one top orchestra to another. He continually rediscovers the classical-romantic repertoire and commits himself to composers who otherwise receive little attention. With eighty concerts per year, he is among the top 10 busiest conductors in the world. This film portrays the man and the artist Herbert Blomstedt working on scores at home and interacting with orchestras on stage. It sketches important stages of his artistic career and gives a deep insight into the world and humanism of a great musician.
