John Neumeier & Hamburg Ballett: The Beethoven Project

  • Hamburg Ballett, John Neumeier © Kiran West

Hamburg Ballett Director and Choreographer John Neumeier has created a unique ballet on the music of Ludwig van Beethoven, which combines rather autobiographically inspired Beethoven fragments with the Eroica. The choreography ranges from solo dance to ensemble performance to great classical ballet scenes. Aleix Martínez – "a force of nature" (tanz) – dances the leading role as Beethoven at the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, joined by Edvin Revazov, Anna Laudere and Patricia Friza. The musical accompaniment is performed by pianist Michał Białk, the orchestra part is played by the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie under the baton of Simon Hewett. (Cat. no.: A 050 50694)
