There are thousands of conductors in the world but only a few can be named Great Maestros. What makes a conductor great? Is it perfect manual technique, a degree form a renowned academy, erudition in the field of symphonic repertoire, great socialising skills while working with musicians and orchestra directors...? In fact, all that is necessary but not enough. There are other (indescribable) phenomena that make some rare conductors exceptionally charismatic, distinguishable from the masses.
