OPUS KLASSIK is the new award for classical music in Germany, given by the Verein zur Förderung der klassischen Musik. This society not only awards this prize to artists with outstanding recordings, but also puts the emphasis on supporting young musicians and musical projects. The second edition of the OPUS KLASSIK award took place on 13 October at Konzerthaus Berlin, featuring, among others, award winners Christian Gerhaher (singer of the year) and soprano Nadine Sierra (newcomer of the year) and, in the category Instrumentalist of the year, Sol Gabetta, Igor Levit and Andreas Ottensamer. The Konzerthausorchester was conducted by Christoph Eschenbach.
