Piano Concertos 1 & 2 By Sergei Rachmaninoff
The last stage of Rachmaninoff's complete concertos, dominated by the Second – which marked the creator's revival after the failure of his First Symphony – the most famous of all, with its characteristic autumnal tones. On the piano, Behzod Abduraimov, whose fantastic skills are based on a perfectly natural and always musical approach. Nikolaï Lugansky, one of the composer's greatest performers of today, plays the First Concerto, so captivating in its mix of cantabile and passion. The spectacular Rhapsody on a theme by Paganini – the one from the 24th Caprice For Solo Violin – closes this exceptional weekend.
