For his first Strauss at La Scala, the Music Director chose the theatre team formed by Damiano Michieletto as director, Paolo Fantin for the sets and Carla Teti for the costumes: a team that in years of constant presence at all the major European theatres and festivals was able to erase the superficial label of enfants terribles, establishing themselves as a reference in today's music theatre scene with a combination of visual impact and dramaturgical profundity. Expectation was high for the cast that includes Malin Byström, back from her triumph in London in the same part.
