The concert held on 31 Aug 2019 by the Wiener Philharmoniker and conductor Bernard Haitink was the closing performance of the Salzburg Festival. The 90-year-old maestro has announced his retirement in September and the performance drew attention as his final appearance there. It was a memorable concert with trusted pianist Emanuel Ax and the Wiener Philharmoniker which Haitink had conducted more than 100 times. Bruckner’s Symphony No. 7 which has been Haitink’s forte should not be missed.
