The Royal Ballet: Romeo And Juliet

  • © Andrej Uspenski

Akane Takada and Ryoichi Hirano were promoted to principal dancers at the same time in 2016. The two Japanese dancers who have carved out their careers with their technical brilliance and acting skills played the role of Juliet and Romeo for the first time in 2019. The piece allows the audience to fully appreciate the dramatic impression unique to the Royal Ballet and fulfills the dream of Takada who once said that her dream is to someday perform Kenneth MacMillan’s Juliet. The narrative fashion inherent to England, the nation of theatre, as well as their pas de deux that captures the emotions of young surging passion is a must see.
