Bennewitz Quartet For The Bubny Memorial Of Silence
In order to commemorate the Jewish transports which left for extermination camps from the station Prague-Bubny during the Second World War, a top Czech string quartet performs works by Theresienstadt composers Krása and Schulhoff. The String Quartet in G major by Antonín Dvořák also is part of the programme as a remembrance of traditional Czech musical values, as a reminiscence of the culture the Jews had to leave behind them. The programme was recorded in the departure hall of the Bubny railway station which aims to be transformed to a permanent exhibition of the complex history of the 20th century.
