Breaking Beethoven
Ludwig van Beethoven’s music is omnipresent to this day and stands for man's deep yearning for freedom. On the occasion of the composer’s 250th birthday, numerous events – from small house concerts to large symphony cycles – were planned all over the world. But how can one celebrate such an anniversary during a global pandemic? The documentary embarks on a search for the lost Beethoven jubilee year with star violinist Aleksey Igudesman. He meets artists like Hyung-ki Joo, Julian Rachlin and Valentina Naforniţa who had to redefine themselves due to the lockdown and to create a virtual stage for their audience.
