The Nutcracker

The Nutcracker is danced all over the world during Christmas time. In 2016, the choreographer Kaloyan Boyadjiev and the costume designer Jon Bausor created a brand new ballet where the story is set to Kristiania (now Oslo) in 1905 – a time when the young nation of Norway was trying to find its place in the world. This very colourful and joyful performance was filmed in an empty hall which gave NRK the possibility to use crane and moving cameras – and more freedom in the way of filming compared with an ordinary relay from a performance.
