In September 2021, the MDR choir and orchestra took to the stage for the first time with Ukrainian conductor Oksana Lyniv. The programme included works by Ludwig van Beethoven: the "Pastoral" and the choral ode "Meeresstille und glückliche Fahrt" to words by Goethe. The instrumental version of "Meeresstille" by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy opened the concert. In addition, Oksana Lyniv, a native of Brody, Ukraine, also lent a native touch to the program. Her compatriot Yuri Laniuk composed the "Annunciation" – a work for solo violin, string orchestra and mixed choir.
