Renaud Capuçon – Carte Blanche In Chantilly
Violinist Renaud Capuçon – also music director of the Menuhin Academy Orchestra – explores classical and 20th century repertoire. First, Mozart with his longtime partner Gérard Caussé (viola) in the Sinfonia concertante K. 364, a double concerto which explores all states of the human soul. Then, an interlude with Mozart's Sonata K. 304 with pianist Iddo Bar-Shai. On the modern side, Shostakovich’s Quartet No. 8 is performed by Jean-Jacques Kantorow in its chamber symphony arrangement by Rudolf Barshai. Barshai (no relation to Iddo) was a close friend of Shostakovich and was very familiar with this score as a founding member of the Borodin Quartet, "the" quartet associated with Shostakovich's work.
