Songs By Toru Takemitsu – 25 Years Since His Passing

This year marks the 25th year since the passing of Toru Takemitsu (1930–1996), a leading composer of Japan. In addition to the well-known modern pieces “Requiem” and “November Steps”, he has left a great number of songs. Many of them are easy on the ears to the extent of sounding like pop songs. They are fascinating contents that tell us the unknown aspect of Takemitsu as a melody maker. The songs are arranged by Yoshihide Otomo, a leading free jazz artist with immense love for the composer. The recording was made in 2K images and 5.1 surround sound.
