The Parsifal Case – From The Vienna State Opera
In 2021, the Vienna State Opera staged Richard Wagner's last music-dramatic work, "Parsifal", directed by Kirill Serebrennikov. With the dualism of morality and eroticism, faith and atheism, suffering and eternal redemption, the opera adresses the great questions of the 19th century. Wagner's stage festival, which was initially only allowed to be performed in the Bayreuth Festspielhaus, captivates with mystical-sacred sound worlds and a multifaceted leitmotif. The ORF produced a short version of the monumental work and – alongside interviews with the protagonists and additional contributions – provided insights into Wagner's mythical cosmos.
