A Monk Named Isidore

  • Isidore String Quartet © Charles Chessler

It is said that a monk named Isidore first introduced vodka to the Russian Czar in the early 1400s. Six centuries later, he has lent his name to a group of New York chamber musicians, winners of the 14th Banff International String Quartet Competition. A Monk Named Isidore follows them on their first world tour from the Kennedy Centre to Wigmore Hall to the Lucerne Festival and Esterházy Palace, as well as their work bringing performances to marginalized communities around New York.
