Anne-Sophie Mutter And New York Philharmonic
The New York Philharmonic with chief conductor Jaap van Zweden traveled to Germany’s Baltic Coast, and with them Anne-Sophie Mutter, performing Previn’s violin concerto “Anne-Sophie”, which is a profound love letter full of virtuosity for a master of her instrument. Also on the program: the European premiere of "1920/2019" by Joan Tower and Bartók's "Concerto for Orchestra." The guest performance of the world-class orchestra at the historic Peenemünde power plant, where Nazis developed the first ballistic missiles, sets a sign for freedom, peace and diversity, and is at the same time a commemoration of the victims of violence and oppression.
