Bayreuth 2022 – The Ring Of The Nibelung

The Bayreuth Festival’s new staging of Wagner’s Der Ring des Nibelungen was the opera event of the 2022 Festival summer. In his thought-provoking production, director Valentin Schwarz reimagines the mythical story in the present day as a visually enthralling and emotionally gripping family saga in the world of the rich and powerful, where not only power but also trauma are passed on from generation to generation. Cornelius Meister conducts a cast of leading Wagnerians – including Lise Davidsen, Irene Théorin and Klaus Florian Vogt – in what proved to be an unmissable operatic event.
