Yannick Nézet-Séguin dedicated his concerts at the Summer Festival Baden-Baden 2022 to the composer Johannes Brahms. For the first concert of this cycle the pianist Beatrice Rana and Yannick Nézet-Séguin play Clara Schumann & Johannes Brahms with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe. They played an evening with delightful contrasts: Clara Schumann wrote the Piano Concerto at the age of 16, whereas her later friend worked on his first symphonic work for 14 years before completing it in Baden-Baden Lichtental in his mid-forties. Titanic C minor or youthful artistry? We enjoy both in this concert.
